The Story of Alain Auderset, a Swiss Christian Cartoonist

When Alain was a youth, he collected old papers in a house as part of a school activity. He was not aware that a family was living in that house and had been praying for him regularly. He found a pile of comics that were talking about the Gospel and Jesus’ love for him. God himself was in his room. He told God that he would give his life to Him, even though he thought it was not much. Alain’s life had never been the same after that day. He bought himself a bible and was discovering God as a friend.

One day as Alain was attending a youth meeting, the speaker asked if anyone wanted to serve God with their talents. He did not think that he had any talent. All he had was bad marks at school. He had no training, no job. The speaker asked him what his talent was. He said that that he didn’t know. All he could do was to draw a little in his notebooks. He thought he could get into comics.

Then Alain went to art school and graduated with a graphic design degree. He started writing comic books full time, even though it was not without difficulty. But it was all worth it. His readers regularly send him messages telling him that they have been deeply touched by his comics. Some even became born again Christians.

Alain received three times the first prize at the International Christian Comic Book Festival, in Angoulême, France. This is the biggest festival of its kind in Europe. Today, more than 100 000 books have been sold in Europe. Some books have been published in China, the USA and in several other countries.

The Christian Walk

1. Jesus Saves Our Soul
The Message of the Gospel
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Peter 3:8-9
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2. The Gates of Glory
God invites you to His home. Come, for everything is now ready. (Luke 14:17)

3. Follow God – One Step at a Time
“Take the first step in faith,
you don’t have to see the whole staircase,
just take the first step.”
Martin Luther King

4. Danger if you think the Bible is going to make you Happy
Some people like to believe in the prosperity gospel. They think that God will surely bless Christians with material blessings and good health. But, in fact, the word of God is useful for training in godliness.
Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

5. This Vision of the Way
The Christian walk may be an uphill struggle, but underneath are God’s everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27). He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

The destination of a Christian is heaven. Sometimes we may desire the things of this world which may be very appealing. But King Solomon said ‘Vanity of vanities, all is vanity’ (Ecclesiastes 1: 2). As Christians, we should set our minds on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:2).
